EVPC residency programs

Texte

Each of the EVPC Residency Training Programs allows graduate veterinarians to acquire in-depth knowledge on all aspects of Veterinary Parasitology under the supervision, mentorship and guidance of one or more EVPC Diplomates.

The objective of the training programs is to instruct graduate veterinarians in the science and practice of Veterinary Parasitology and its supporting disciplines (zoology, immunology, general epidemiology, pathology, pharmacology). If succesfully completed the training provides the resident the opportunity to pursue a career in the teaching, research, diagnostic, industrial or regulatory/governmental practice of Veterinary Parasitology, and to advance Veterinary Parasitology through promotion of research and publications.

Two different training programs are available within the EVPC. The Standard Residency Training Programme (SRTP) is offered by an approved institution. The Alternative Residency Training Programme (ARTP) is an individually approved program for a resident and its supervisor. All Residents must be supervised by an active EVPC Diplomate. Duration of the training programs is usually four years; retrospective recognition can be applied for max. 1 year of internship in the field of veterinary parasitology.

The goal of the programs is to train the resident to be able to successfully sit the examination in order to become a Diplomate of the College. Training must include different aspects of veterinary parasitology including research, clinical training and diagnostic practice. In addition, mycology may be considered an additional, but not compulsory, subject that could also be included in a training program for residents, pending the approval of the education committee.
